Personal Bests

Marius Ionescu is the first Romanian male athlete to participate in the Olympic Marathon after 48 years. Last participation was in Tokyo, 1964, Romania was represented by Constantin Grecescu in the marathon, who finished 36th with a time of 2:30:43.
Marius Ionescu is the only Romanian who ran three under 2 hours and 14 minutes marathons: 2:13:33 in Hamburg (2013), 2:13:19 in Dusseldorf (2015) and 2.13.00, in Dusseldorf again (2016)!
